Passage Content

There is one important characteristic of living things. That is the fact that they "die." Of course, it is not as if there are no animals that are difficult to die. There is a tiny creature called the tardigrade. When this animal dries up, it becomes completely desiccated. However, when you put it in water, it returns to normal and begins to move again. If you freeze it, it freezes rock solid. Yet, if you thaw it, it returns to normal and starts moving again. Even so, if you burn it, it will die. Every living thing will eventually die. However, if you think about it, that means all living things should disappear. But they do not disappear. Why? Naturally, it is because they produce offspring.
