A device that dramatically changes the lives of visually impaired people has been released. By attaching a headband-shaped device to your forehead, you can recognize the shapes of objects. The headband has a built-in camera. The image captured by the camera is converted into outlines and transmitted as electrical stimulation to the back of the headband. It is said that the forehead feels a tingling sensation following the outlines. Without sight, one cannot know the shape of an object unless it is touched. Furthermore, because 90% of information comes through the eyes, visually impaired people tend to lack information. Wearing this device expands one's range of activities and helps protect oneself from many everyday dangers. However, one cannot recognize shapes correctly without receiving training. Additionally, it cannot be used to read books or similar tasks. Nevertheless, in the future, it will likely become capable of doing much more.
