Norway has a "female board quota system." Listed companies must have at least 40% female board members. The proportion of women on boards at the time the law was enacted was 7%, and the business community strongly opposed its introduction. In 2006, the government adopted a coercive measure stating that "companies that do not reach 40% within two years will be dissolved," and the target was achieved in 2008. Today, an increasing number of countries, primarily in Europe, are seeking to introduce this system. Generally, companies that effectively utilize women's capabilities tend to have good performance.
It is not necessarily a good thing to simply increase the number of board members. That is why the "Female Executive Development Program" is so popular. Some people question why there is no such program for men, but men are often constantly trained as executive candidates. In that regard, it can be said that the past was unfair. There is no need to mandate a percentage by law, but I would like to borrow the power of the state for education. I believe that an increase in female executives will have a positive impact on the Japanese economy.
