Passage Content
Reference translation
English
I believe that foreign languages should be taught using only the target language. Although it may be incomprehensible at first, natural Japanese will be acquired. Pronunciation will also become accurate. When young children go abroad, they may be completely confused at first, but they will subconsciously come to understand the language and naturally become able to speak it. If you listen to the perfect Japanese spoken by foreign sumo wrestlers who come to Japan, you will see that my theory is correct.
For example, when teaching in English, students are often influenced by the language and make mistakes such as saying 'I ate a big rice' or 'That person is a short person.' Additionally, when teaching students from various countries in a classroom, explaining things in a way that only some students understand can lead to complaints from the others. If translation is not used, it is necessary to be creative with real objects, visual materials, and teaching methods. However, the above does not apply to cases such as one hour of instruction per week or individual lessons.
