There is a therapy called music-motor therapy that helps restore brain function. It is a treatment that combines the up-and-down motion of a trampoline with live music performed in sync with that motion. Since music therapy is tailored to the movements of each individual patient on the trampoline, it is conducted one-on-one. When music that matches the patient's up-and-down movements is played, the brain feels pleasure or comfort (note), and dopamine is released. Dopamine has the function of stimulating motivation. As a result, the brain is stimulated, and its function is restored.
In fact, patients who had been unable to walk for nearly 20 years have now been able to walk and write, which is a series of good news for both the patients and their families. Although brain research has advanced considerably, it seems there is still a great deal of room for further study.
