JLPT N2 Reading Comprehension Lesson 28

A: Even though it was a serious accident with a major social impact, I think it was well-executed as a drama. However, I was bothered by scenes that seemed aimed solely at making viewers cry. Of course, conveying the sadness of the accident is important, but beyond that, I wanted them to dig deeper into why such a thing happened and what the real issues were. The lead actor put so much effort into their performance, so it felt a bit like a waste. B: Seeing a real-life accident depicted in a drama makes you fully realize how terrifying such accidents are. Accidents at construction sites have recently been picked up by the news and discussed widely, but individual caution alone cannot guarantee safety. Not only at the construction site itself, but the company placing the order must also work together as a whole to protect the safety of workers and local residents. I think there should be more programs like this to increase the number of people who think this way. C: Some parts were so moving that I wondered if they were exaggerated, and I couldn't tell where the actual events ended and the dramatization began. I think it might have been good to include interviews with the people involved along the way. However, by turning it into a drama, it felt even more realistic than reality itself. The actors' performances were wonderful, and I felt the pain and sadness as if I had experienced the accident myself.
