読書には2種類あるといわれる。ひとつは楽しみのための読書である。小説や雑誌 を読むのがこれだ。もうひとつは、知らないことを学ぶ読書である。この読書は苦しいこともある。新しい考えを理解するには頭を働かなければならないし、 書いてあることがわからなければ何度も読み直して考えるからだ。だが、本当の読解の力はこの知らないことを学ぶ読書で試される。逆に、楽しい読書の場合には、知っている話題や知識で書いてあるから、それほど読解の力がなくても読めるのである。

Conversely, in the case of enjoyable reading, since it is written with topics and knowledge you already know, you can read it without much reading comprehension ability.
