これはビジネス文書に限ったことではないのだが、何であれ文書を書いていると、少しばかり緊張感を覚えるものだ。書きながら、頭の中でこんなことを考えている。この書き方でいいのかな。 これ、ひどく下手な書き方じゃないだろうか。これで分かるかな。そういう気がしきりに（注１）し て、ちょっとしたプレッシャーになっている。だからこそ、文章を書くのは苦手だ、と思っている人もいるのじゃないだろうか。しかし、その逆もまた真であ る。文章を書く面白さとは、そういうプレッシャーを感じながら、なんとか諸問題をクリアして、一応のものを書き上げることにあるのだ。 テレビゲームが楽しいのと同じ理屈(注２)である。あれは、攻略する（注３）のが簡単ではない様々な障害をかわしながら(注４)、次々に問題を解決していって、なんとかクリアしていくところが面白いのである。むずかしいからこそ、うまくやったときに楽しいのだ。 文章を書くのも、①そういうことである。これでいいのかな、と一抹の(注５)不 安を抱えながら、なんとか書いていくってことを楽しまなければならない。別の言い方にすると、文章というものは、書く人に対して、うまく書いてくれ、と要 求してくれるのである。なぜなら、文章とは人と人とのコミュニケーションの道具だからだ。この例外の文章は、必ず、書く人間のほかに、②読む人間がいて完成されるのだ。そして、書いた人の伝えたかったことが、読んだ人にちゃんとわかってこそ、文章は役をはたしたことになる。

This is not limited to business documents; writing any kind of document naturally brings a slight sense of tension. While writing, thoughts like these run through one's mind: "Is this way of writing okay?" "Isn't this writing terrible?" "Will they understand this?" These feelings constantly arise and become a bit of pressure. That might be precisely why some people feel they are bad at writing. However, the opposite is also true. The fun of writing lies in experiencing that pressure while somehow clearing various problems and completing an acceptable piece of work.
It works on the same logic as why video games are fun. Games are interesting because you dodge various obstacles that are not easy to conquer, solve problems one after another, and somehow manage to beat the game. Precisely because it is difficult, it is enjoyable when you do it well.
Writing ①is the same thing. One has to enjoy writing somehow while holding a slight tinge of anxiety, thinking, "Is this okay?" Put another way, text demands of the writer, "Write me well." That is because text is a tool for communication between people. Except for special cases, a text is always completed when there is ②a reader in addition to the writer. And only when what the writer wanted to convey is properly understood by the reader does the text fulfill its purpose.
