Although the Earth's temperature is currently rising, even if warming continues at the current baseline, the temperature in the year 2100 will only be 'on par with the Jomon period.' In other words, we are simply returning to the temperatures of the Jomon period. Furthermore, looking at earlier eras, even considering only the period since the emergence of humanity, the Earth's temperature has continued to fluctuate drastically, with numerous warm periods where sea levels were more than three meters higher than today, and conversely, several cold periods where sea levels were more than ten meters lower.
In fact, the era when Arctic waters did not exist was far longer, and Hokkaido is home to numerous coral reef fossils. Therefore, it is impossible to claim that 'the Earth is in serious trouble' or 'the Earth is crying out' due to the current level of warming. The Earth has experienced far more drastic temperature changes than the present warming, and it is inconceivable that the Earth would face such dire consequences from a temperature shift of this magnitude.
Thoughts such as “Let’s protect the Earth,” “For the sake of the Earth,” “Earth-friendly,” and “The Earth is pitiful” are all wrong. ② The Earth would be angry if it could hear this. The temperature that many people consider “normal” is merely a fleeting moment in the Earth’s history, which has undergone intense cycles of warming and cooling, lasting only about two years. What does the author think about the current rise in Earth’s temperature?
