Evaluation on the Internet
A long time has passed since the word "Internet" became widely known. Every day, many people send and receive emails, and when they want to look up something, they first check the internet (*1). In addition, not only do people search for information, but some also try to publish information themselves, so online message boards (*2) and blogs (*3) are always overflowing with a vast amount of information.
It was various companies that paid attention to this. Through online voices, each company attempts to obtain information such as what people who use their products and services think about them, whether consumers think their company's products are good, and whether there are points that need improvement.
Internet searching is convenient because if you input keywords or product names, you can find a lot of information containing them. However, depending on the keyword, there may be too much information, making it difficult to review it all.
Therefore, software has been developed that can select and provide information useful to companies. Among them is software that classifies and reports whether a certain product is evaluated as "good" or "bad."
For example, it is a system that categorizes into the good group if there are words like "good" or "wonderful," and into the bad group if there are words like "bad" or "terrible."
However, there are also problems. For example, when there is information saying "~ is good, but ~ is bad," it is difficult to classify whether it is "good" or "bad."
In the end, many problems still need to be solved in order to mechanically classify human words using software.
