English
"Viking": In Japan, "Viking cuisine" refers to a style of dining where you can eat as much of whatever you like. However, there is often a time limit, such as within 60 or 90 minutes. It is easy to understand why young people who eat a lot like Viking buffets, but people in their 50s also visit such restaurants quite often. It is said that they go because they want to try a variety of dishes or eat only the foods they like. Not every place offers a full buffet; some meals just come with a salad bar. Usually, with these, the main meal is ordered separately, and you can freely serve yourself salad, or salad and drinks. In both cases, customers have to get the food themselves. Restaurants do this to keep the number of staff as low as possible and reduce the price of the food.
