"The Old Woman"
There is a small path near my house. It is only about 300 meters long, but except during the severe cold of winter, it is always full of blooming flowers. I didn't know who took care of the flowers, but I was grateful for it even though it wasn't my own garden.
One day, passing by that path early in the morning, I saw an old woman nearly 80 years old picking up trash between the flowers. Without thinking, I called out to her, "Good morning. Do you always take care of these flowers?"
The old woman said she takes care of the flowers every day. Even though no one had asked her to, she was raising them ( ).
I suddenly felt an urge to thank her. "Because you take care of them every day, there are so many beautiful flowers. I look forward to walking down this path. It must be tough every day. Thank you as always." When I said this, the old woman smiled shyly and said, "It's not tough at all. I do it because I enjoy it."
I remembered my grandmother, who was always working for the sake of others.
