"Words"
If someone asks, "Do you have a pencil?", you hand them a pencil and say, "Yes, here you go."
If you are in a room and someone says, "It's hot, isn't it?", responding with "Shall I open the window?" or "Shall I turn on the air conditioner?", or even turning on the air conditioner without saying a word, is what real, living conversation is all about, isn't it?
If you simply answer, "Yes, I have one," or "Yes, it is hot," how would the speaker feel? They would probably feel that they weren't understood.
The first example is simple, but the second one might be a bit difficult to do.
There are opinions that it is better to state things clearly rather than expecting people to guess. This opinion seems especially common among young people.
However, many people, especially older people, seem to want others to understand them even without having to say it.
Words express people's feelings and opinions.
It is best to keep in mind that while some people speak everything clearly, others hope to be understood even without saying anything.
