With an 自動詞, the causee is commonly marked by を; に is also possible and often more readily suggests permission. With a 他動詞, use causee に + object を + V(さ)せる. If the original verb already takes 「を」 for an object or route, mark the causee with 「に」 to avoid two 「を」 phrases; hence 子どもに横断歩道を渡らせました.

Group 1: Change the い-column sound to the あ-column + せる (or remove ない from Vない + せる). Example: 行かない → 行かせる.
Group 2: Remove る + させる (or remove ない from Vない + させる). Examples: 見ない → 見させる; 食べない → 食べさせる.
Group 3: する → させる; 来る → 来させる.
