Point 1L9_G1

(Want someone to...)

Sentence Pattern
(Polite)

Expresses the speaker's expectation or request towards another PERSON or THING (I want SOMEONE ELSE to do something for me).

  • 【Person】に + Vて~: I want SOMEONE to do something.
I want a THING to be a certain way.
Note: Vてほしい can sound direct, so it is generally avoided as a direct request to a superior. ~ていただきたい or a softer expression is more appropriate when politeness is required.
