Part 1: ~が 欲(ほ)しい (Want ~)

Sentence Pattern
Nが 欲ほしい
Structure: Nが 欲ほしい (Want N). 欲ほしい functions as an い-adjective.
Example Sentences (2)
A: 今いま なにが ほしいですか。
B: カメラが ほしいです。

→ A: What do you want right now? B: I want a camera.

今いま お金かねや車くるまなどがほしいですが、恋人こいびとがほしくないです。

→ Right now I want money and a car, but I don't want a lover.

Part 2: V たい / ~は Nを Vたいです (Want to do)

Sentence Pattern
Vたい / Nを Vたい
Structure: Vます (drop ます) + たい (Want to do V). The たい form conjugates like an い-adjective. In this form, the particle が can replace the particle を. Note: The verb ある is not used in the たい form.
Example Sentences (2)
A: 今いま なにを したいですか。
B: みずを 飲のみたいです。

→ A: What do you want to do right now? B: I want to drink water.

A: どう しますか。
B: 勉強べんきょう したくないですよ。

→ A: What's the matter? B: I just don't want to study.

Part 3: Particle に (Purpose of an action)

Sentence Pattern
Vます / N に
Structure: Vます (drop ます) / N + に.
Particle に indicates the purpose of an action. For verbal nouns (Nする), there are two ways to express purpose: Nを Vしに 行いきます or Nの Vに 行いきます.
Example Sentences (2)
食たべに行 いきます。

→ Go in order to eat.

日本語にほんごを 勉強べんきょうしに 行いきます。/ 日本語にほんごの 勉強べんきょうに 行いきます。

→ Go to study Japanese.

Part 4: Expressing Purpose with Verbs of Motion

Sentence Pattern
N1(場所ばしょ)へ N2を Vに 行いきます / 来きます / 帰かえります
Structure: Go/come/return to N1 (place) in order to do V with N2. The main verbs used are verbs of motion like 行いきます (go), 来きます (come), 帰かえります (return).
Example Sentences (2)
A: どこへ 行いきますか。
B: 外そとへ タバコを 吸すいに 行いきます。

→ A: Where are you going? B: I'm going outside to smoke.

アメリカへ 英語えいごを 勉強べんきょうしに 来きました。

→ I came to America to study English.

Part 5: Interrogative + か

Sentence Pattern
疑問詞ぎもんし + か
Structure: Interrogative word (疑問詞ぎもんし) + か. Adding か to a question word creates an indefinite pronoun, such as 何なにか (something), どこか (somewhere), 誰だれか (someone). Particles へ and を can be omitted after it.
Example Sentences (2)
A: きのう どこか いきましたか。
B: はい、としょかんへ いきました。

→ A: Did you go somewhere yesterday? B: Yes, I went to the library.

のどが かわきましたから、なにか「を」 のみたいです。

→ Because I'm thirsty, I want to drink something.
