When you want to clarify the source of information, add ~によると、 at the beginning of the sentence.

Sentence Pattern
〜ようです
Expresses the speaker's conjecture about the reality of a situation.
Often used with どうも (it seems/somehow).
Often used with どうも (it seems/somehow).
Example Sentences (2)
A: 人が 集まっていますね。
B: ええ。事故のようです。

→ A: A lot of people are gathering, aren't they? B: Yes. It seems to be an accident.
なかなか 返事が ないんです。だれも いないようです。
→ There's no answer at all. It seems no one is here.
